All About Etsy: Made in Canada

You may have heard us talk about Etsy: Made in Canada a lot these past few months (especially in the past few days!). September 27th is quickly approaching and we're getting really excited about it! This is where you can find out everything about the event, including all of the activities, sponsors, and more!

What is Etsy?

Etsy is a great place where you can find the most unique and creative items. Anyone can open a shop, as long as they have hand made what they are selling, or collected vintage items themselves. Each shop owner is in charge of what they sell, making sure to take great photos and write thorough descriptions of each item. Shoppers can search for what they are looking for, and thousands of items will turn up from hundreds of shop owners.

Anyone with an Etsy account can create treasuries featuring their favourite items. Several treasuries are featured on the Etsy homepage every day, giving large exposure to specific shops.

What is Etsy: Made in Canada?

This is a nationwide craft show featuring Etsy shop owners from across Canada. Twenty-three communities will host their own market, with local Etsy shop owners selling their handmade and vintage items in person. The concept was developed by Etsy Canada in order to promote Etsy and local entrepreneurs.

Why isn't there a market in my city?

Earlier this year, administrators from Etsy Canada approached Canadian Etsy Team Captains asking if they were interested in hosting an Etsy craft show in their area. We were informed that it would be a big commitment, and those who wanted to have a market in their city were invited to Toronto for a 2-day summit.

This is our first year running an event like this, so hopefully more cities will be interested in hosting a market in the future.
